We are going to start off the year with tips, techniques, tools and materials utilized for addressing envelopes that will be presented by various members of the Guild.  Copperplate is the calligraphic hand presented. We will also review samples and requirements to enter the Graceful Envelope Contest.

For Scribe and Describe, bring samples of envelopes that you have previously addressed and/or decorated.

Each month we will explore a calligraphic hand and present tips and techniques for preparing envelopes for the Graceful Envelope Contest.  These techniques may also be applied to your calligraphic artwork.  In May we will combine our classwork into a booklet.

Fee: $3.00 members / $5.00 non-members (to cover the cost of hand-outs)

The supplies you should bring:

• Flexible pointed nib with either a regular pen holder or an oblique holder  (a limited number will be available for purchase)
• Ink, Gouache or your preferred medium for letters
• Grid Pad for practice
• Water container
• Paper towels, Pencil, eraser, sharpener and ruler
• Envelopes (various sizes and or colors)
• Paper to make envelopes (template patterns will be available to copy)
• Notebook and pen to take notes

Due to the time and length of our meeting, bring a brown bag lunch and any refreshments (in a non-spill container) you might want.  Feel free to take a break as needed during the meeting. Refreshments will not be provided.
