September Calligraphy Meeting: Making A Pop Up Card

 

September 15th (This is the 3rd Saturday, we are meeting this day because of conflicts but remainder of year will be the 2nd Saturday of the month.) 9am-12pm

This is a fun card that you can decorate with calligraphy or stamps or drawing or whatever you want.  We will be making the card together in class.

You can decorate the 4- 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 squares ahead or in class. Everyone should go home with one completed card.   It fits into a 4 1/2 x 5 3/4 envelope which you can bring with you or get later.

 

Also bring any projects that you are working on or anything you’d like to share with everyone for Scribe and Describe.

 

Supplies

1-4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card stock
1-4 1/8 x 5 1/4 decorative paper
1-2 x 9 card stock
1-1 x 7 card stock
4-1 3/4 x 1 3/4 paper to decorate with calligraphy or other
1-4” piece of ribbon
Glue stick or glue and glue brush
Scrap paper to glue on
Bone folder
If your paper is not cut bring an Exacto, ruler and cutting board to the meeting
Hole punch (I will bring one to share)
Scissors
Pencil, eraser
Calligraphy pen and ink
Rubber stamps

 

Directions

The meeting will be held in a meeting room at Carlo Ditta, Inc, 1445 Mac Arthur Avenue in Harvey. It’s a concrete plant, the signage is on the top of a hopper and the front of the building. Please enter through the far right door. Call Eugenia Uhl’s cell phone number if you get lost. 504-957-3483.

From the Crescent City Connection, once over the river, take the Manhattan Blvd. Exit 6 and continue straight on the Westbank Expressway, through the Harvey tunnel. After the tunnel, take a LEFT onto Mac Arthur Avenue. Continue to almost the end of a very industrial street to 1445, it will be a white stucco building on your left. Park right in front anywhere. Enter through the far right door.

From the Huey Long Bridge, follow Hwy 90 East onto the Westbank Expressway. Enter the elevated highway when possible, and exit Mac Arthur Avenue, take a right onto Mac Arthur Avenue. Follow Mac Arthur almost to the end, to 1445, a white stucco building on your left. Park anywhere in front. Please enter through the far right door.
